How we make money
happycalligraphy.com makes money in three ways. We are clear about each one:
- Direct sales of digital printables through this site (Gumroad checkout) and through our Etsy storefront. When you buy a practice sheet, monogram template, or SVG asset pack, the revenue goes directly to us.
- Affiliate commissions on calligraphy supplies. When we mention a specific brush pen, ink, paper, or course, the link is often an affiliate link. If you purchase through it, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. The commission rate varies by program (typically 1 to 10 percent of your purchase).
- Display advertising via Google AdSense once we are approved for monetization. The ads are served by Google, not by us. We do not control which specific ads appear.
Our standards for affiliate links
We only link to products we use ourselves or have vetted with calligraphers we trust. We do not accept payment to recommend products. If a brand approached us with money to push their pen or paper, we would tell you that in the post. Our editorial recommendations are based on whether the product actually works at the price point a beginner can afford.
Affiliate links on this site are marked with rel="sponsored nofollow" as required by FTC guidelines and Google webmaster guidelines.
Programs we participate in
We are participants in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. We may also participate in affiliate programs with Skillshare, Domestika, Udemy, and Etsy from time to time, depending on the relevance of those services to the content we publish.
